Medical Dosimetrist

The primary function of the Medical Dosimetrist position is to perform stereotactic treatment planning for Gamma Knife and external beam treatments of the central nervous system. The Dosimetrist will work closely with Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologist to create stereotactic treatment plans in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Dosimetrist will work with GammaPlan, Brainlab Elements and RayStation treatment planning systems, perform quality assurance activities and plan/chart reviews, work on clinical projects and perform other duties as assigned. Training for the various treatment planning systems will be provided. The position is 50-100% onsite, and this will vary by week.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Clinical Competencies Competently performs Gamma Knife and external beam treatment planning and dose calculations for safe, effective radiation treatment delivery. Demonstrates accurate and timely patient e-chart processing, calculations, chart checks and supporting quality assurance activities. Maintains & demonstrates knowledge on all the latest guidelines, policies and procedures specific to medical dosimetry including but not limited to, basic competencies, skill specific competencies, and institutional and departmental policies.

Education
Required: Graduate of hospital or college affiliated medical dosimetry school with clinical and classroom curriculum for duration of one year. May substitute for required education with three years of current medical dosimetry experience.
Certification/Licensure
Required: Certification as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) within four years of job entry.
