Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking
to hire a full time Staff Research Associate II to join the Greater Southern
California Node of the Clinical Trials Network. Primary duties include:

  • Locating and recruiting prospective research participants
  • Conducting interviews with research participants
  • Coding and screening interviews
  • Assisting with dissemination activities
  • Coordinating data collection from research sites and other sources
  • Performing data entry
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, administrative, and other tasks as needed
  • Acting as project liaison
Qualifications

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with participants, staff, and supervisors (required)
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends (required)
  • Reliable source of transportation (required)
  • Ability to travel (able to fly, rent and drive a car, stay overnight when needed) is (required)
  • Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required (Required)
  • Ability to question participants about sensitive behavioral issues, including drug use and criminal behavior, and frequency of high-risk sex behaviors (required)
  • Skill in speaking and writing to persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds (required)
  • Ability to review, recall, and assess interview forms for completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency (required)
  • Experience in data collections, including interviewing, with similar populations (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, and qualitative data analysis software) such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) (required)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree (preferred)
