Clinical Social Worker - Per Diem

Responsibilities

Provides direct social work services, including assessment, intervention, and recommendations to individual patients and their families. Participates in interdisciplinary activities, complies with departmental standards regarding attendance, documentation, continuous quality improvement, statistics, departmental policies and procedures, and the Code of Ethics. Keeps current with professional social work health care knowledge base and pursues further enhancement of job-related knowledge. Understands clinical operations, medical issues and complications in transplant patients.

Schedule: TBD - may include weekends and holidays.

Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the United States Council on Social Work Education - Required.

At least two years post-Master's experience with medical patients.

ED experience preferred.

Understanding of emotional reactions to serious/catastrophic diagnoses / illness / and aging Demonstrated skill in clinical assessment and treatment, crisis intervention, end-of-life issues, and bereavement Demonstrated experience as a member of an interdisciplinary team Knowledge about insurances (especially Medicare, Medi-Cal) Knowledge about substance abuse assessment and treatment practices, protocols, and resources Awareness of other relevant community resources, especially for transportation, counseling, and financial aid Understanding of cultural differences and racial and religious diversity Knowledge of Child Abuse/Elder &Dependent Adult Abuse/Neglect and Domestic Violence treatment interventions and reporting protocols Commitment to principles of patient- and family-centered care Experience with principles of bioethics Ability to handle fast-paced clinical work environment.
