Staff Research Associate
Responsibilities
Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, you will primarily be responsible for all animals' care including rats, mice and rabbits. Some duties include to breed, wean, immunize and screen different mouse strains. You will also be responsible for animal dissections, mouse or rat bleeds, tissue freezing, and tissue analysis. In addition, you will be responsible for genotyping as many as 10 different strains of mice by DNA isolation and PCR. You will perform the above under close supervision of the PI and oversee maintenance of laboratory equipment, tissue culture facilities and microscopy facilities.
QualificationsREQUIRED:Ability to design and execute experiments, analyze experimental results, define
technical problems and formulate logical conclusions.
Ability to understand scientific protocols
Ability to work independently without close
supervision.
Ability to interact with laboratory coworkers in a manner conducive to
productive cooperation.
Ability to handle rats, mice and rabbits.
Ability to perform sterile tissue culture
techniques.
Ability to train and supervise students and
other lab assistants in experimental procedure
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree in the Biological Sciences
with two years laboratory experience.
