The Role at a Glance

As the AVP of Product Development, you will be responsible for shaping product discovery, design, and development for the annuity business by partnering across various areas of the company. This position contributes to improvement in product innovation, business development/expansion into new or underdeveloped markets and investment solutions available within the business line products. In this role you will communicate with Senior Management to ensure that the value proposition and product differentiating features for new innovations and market opportunities are consistent with Lincoln's branding, corporate image, and strategic direction.

What you'll be doing

  • Provides specialized expertise to develop, create, implement and execute the business strategy for expansion into new markets while diversifying the business line product portfolio.
  • Partners with Senior Management and influences the strategic direction of a competitive product and solution set for new markets and develops the solutions to bring to market.
  • Partners with Pricing and Business Line Leaders to analyze product solutions.
  • Serves as a contributor to the risk management process across their area of responsibility, analyzing potential impacts to LFG’s risk management programs, product pricing, business mix and assets under management.
  • Contributes to strategy to expand the pipeline of future products through innovation initiatives, identifying viable solutions in support of the strategic plan to diversify the business line product portfolio.
  • Responsible for all aspects of product development including discover, design, develop and deliver.
  • Ability to assess the annuity market and adjacent markets and discover solutions for the annuity business and then take those ideas to determine viability for our product portfolio.
  • After assessing and discovering solutions for the annuity business, lead the design and develop aspects of the process. This would entail engaging stakeholders and partnering with teams to conduct research.
  • Leverages and establishes relationships outside of the company to engage with discover work for the product portfolio.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ Years’ experience in a similar role in the insurance industry
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Understands the interdependencies of how people and organizations function, and can negotiate through complex political situations effectively.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Pay Range: $118,300 - $215,800

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
