Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Based in Boonton, NJ, and reporting to the Division Controller, the Sr. Cost Accountant serves as a key member of the Finance team with responsibility for various accounting and costing functions. Responsibilities require knowledge of cost accounting, manufacturing processes, generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and SAP best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of standard costs (BOMs and routings)
• Provide analysis in support to Internal and External Audits of the Business Unit
• Assist in monthly closing and reporting process, using SAP and OneStream
• Review, analyze and update standard product costs as they relate to material, labor and burden/overhead
• Provide monthly variance analysis regarding production costs and department expenses
• Assist in preparing and loading annual operating budget and monthly forecasts
• Assist in execution of annual operating plan
• Support process improvement initiatives related to internal controls and financial reporting
• Maintain responsibility for routine calculation of accruals (i.e. E&O inventory)
• Manage cycle count program and annual physical inventories and reconcile all differences
• Analyze and prepare ad hoc reports in support of Business Unit Management decision making
• Assist oversight for projects, including capital, major maintenance

Skills and Experience
  • BS or Master’s in Accounting
  • MBA preferred
  • CMA/CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience
  • Strong hands-on SAP experience a significant plus
  • Strong analytical skills

Bachelors Degree in Accounting
