Principal Engineer, Software Development & Engineering

Job Summary
The DevX Run Observability Team develops, delivers, and operates platforms and services to enable Comcast’s engineering and operations teams to understand the health of our products and services in real-time. Our massively scaled systems support thousands of users and store petabytes of data. Our vision is to enable engineering and technology operations groups at Comcast to identify the internal state of their complex systems and infrastructure in a consistent and easy way. Our desired outcomes are reducing MTTR (mean time to recover), enabling higher-order observability patterns such as AIOps, and making Observability an enabler of software development. The DevX Team is an entire organization committed to improving the developer experience at Comcast. Within DevX, the Observability Team endeavors to reduce the friction for developers to integrate with best-in-class observability platforms using best practices and efficient deployment patterns With this goal in mind, the Observability Team seeks to enhance an established Kubernetes platform, used to run our ELK stack, for use across all of our applications. To that end, we seek a talented Kubernetes engineer.Job Description
In this role, you will:
- Demonstrate your technical expertise to build a flexible and reliable Kubernetes solution;
- Provide technical leadership to a team of 5 engineers and a manager;
- Gain exposure to many teams throughout the organization to understand their needs and develop your solution to meet them;
- Talk about your solution to groups throughout the organization to gain exposure for the platform and yourself.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience
- Expert in Linux administration, experience with multiple distributions required
- Current experience in Kubernetes stacks, on-premise and public cloud
- Intermediate to expert skill level in AWS, GCP & Azure
- Expert in automation tooling such as Ansible
- Intermediate to expert skill level in CI/CD tooling & GitOps
- Intermediate to expert skill level in shell scripting
- Intermediate to expert skill level in Python and/or Go-lang
- Proficient in container environments - from building to operating containers
- Demonstrated expertise in network & systems troubleshooting
- Some experience in an As A Service environment desired
- Desire to mentor and train team members

LOCATION: This role can be located in any of our three core locations: Philadelphia, PA, Denver, CO or Reston, VA with some flexibility to work virtually from within the continental US.

Pay Range: This job can be performed in Denver Campus, with a Pay Range of $145,368.87 USD - $227,964.83 USD
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
