Diesel Mechanic

The starting pay rate will be anywhere from $32 to $39 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The pay range for this job category is $32-42/hour.

We also offer regular wage increases, great family benefits, and stable, year round work.

The schedule will be Monday-Friday 2-10:30pm with occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities Include:

• Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines
• Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.
• Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
• Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans in our system
• Collaborates with other diesel mechanics
• Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
• Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
• Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon
• Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
• Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards

Qualified candidate must have:

• Tool set, tool box and proper personal safety equipment required
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software
• Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of start of position
• Welding experience a plus
• Minimum of a High School diploma or GED
