Medical Laboratory Technician - Flow Cytometry - Days, Tuesday-Saturday
The Flow Cytometry Technician performs pre-analytical tasks pursuant to established and approved protocols requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility.
The work schedule for this position will be 1st Shift (Tuesday - Saturday 9:00am - 5:30pm).
Responsibilities:
Duties include maintenance of equipment and records.
Performance of quality assurance activities related to test performance performed under direct supervision.
Runs daily standard checks for instrument alignment and reagent QC on the flow cytometers.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors or unusual results
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science is preferred
Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required for the Technologist level
ASCP or AMT certification is Required as a Medical Laboratory Technician
Tennessee state license if preferred but not required
Flow Cytometry experience is a plus
Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
