Government Affairs Manager

We currently have a new exciting opportunity for a Government Affairs Manager to join our team here at GSK based in Dublin. The Government Affairs Manager is responsible for interpreting, anticipating, and influencing public healthcare policy to enable the successful delivery of GSK’s objectives in Ireland.

In this role you will

  • Assess and understand the healthcare and political environment in terms of structures, legislation, and any upcoming changes relevant for GSK.

  • Monitor policy development (Ireland & Europe), legislative environment and debated changes. Act proactively at relevant levels. i.e. review and understand local and broader European level policy and intent, and act locally to bring about the changes required.

  • Evaluate, develop, propose, and support, GSK's positions to provide input to health policy development.

  • Liaise across GSK functions and external agencies to create a plan that delivers on GSK priorities.

  • In collaboration with the Head of Communication & Government Affairs (CGA), lead the plan and take personal responsibility for the implementation of many of its elements.

  • Develop partnerships and maintain regular contact with key stakeholders to understand their needs, policies and processes and evolve our position accordingly

  • Maintain a functional network of collaborators, advisors, and partners both internally within the GSK (local and regional) and within the broader external environment.

  • Advise, develop, and implement advocacy plans for GSK on priority policy issues, in collaboration with the Head of CGA, senior leadership and others as appropriate.

  • Understand the needs, perspectives and recommendations coming from advisory authorities or interest groups that can influence policy and provide insights to inform and evolve our strategy.

  • Build and maintain a cross functional relationship with internal local and above country functions relevant to your role to deliver on agreed deliverables

  • Lead engagements with Government Affairs, PR or other agencies engaged to partner on the delivery of the plan

  • Agree and measure KPI's frequently and evolve these KPI's over time

  • Report to senior leadership in line with agreed ways of working

  • Compliance with internal and external codes and policies is mandatory
